A Tribute by Henry Omoregie

Bendelites (Edo and Delta States indigenes) and residents of old Bendel State will surely remember the pleasant face and children-friendly voice of Stella Maris- Ezekiel who anchored Children’s Time on NTA BENIN in the mid-70s to early 80s.

She was the face of children’s programs in Bendel State at that time.

As kids, we never missed the programme which aired every weekday, it featured moral and civic education for both pre-school and teenage children who tuned in to the programme.

Reports from her eldest child have it that she died this morning, 5th of December, in the premises of Christian Gospel Church, Uselu, Benin City, Edo State.

She was a devoted worshipper with the church and has been living her later life after staying off the klieglights at the premises of the church.

“We the children of old Bendel State are forever grateful for the positive impacts your program had on our lives.”

May her soul rest in the bosom of the Almighty.

Support for the family should be discussed with Stellamaris Ezim Nwokedi, her eldest surviving daughter.
