The Chairman of the Ogboru Campaign Council, Prince Emmanuel Okotie-Eboh, son of the Nigerian First Finance Minister, late Chief Festus Samuel Okotie-Eboh, weekend, condemned in its entirety alleged campaign of calumny by Chief Moses Oddiri against the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru.
Okotie-Eboh who made this statement in Warri, Delta State while reacting to a report credited to Chief Moses Oddiri in a community tabloid and national dailies, that Ogboru’s governorship ambition will split the votes of Delta central for the All Progressive Congress governorship candidate, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, is the beginning of Oddiri’s fear for Omo-Agege.
While describing the report as inconsequential, the former Regent of Warri Kingdom, Prince Emmanuel Okotie-Eboh, said if Chief Moses Oddiri is looking for cheap popularity, relevance and means to join or gain recognition from APC and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, it shouldn’t come through campaign of calumny against Ogboru.
Okotie-Eboh said while it is not the style of the Ogboru Campaign Council to take on candidates of political parties on campaign of calumny in pages of newspapers, the council will not be pushed to joining issues with any agent of any candidate of any political party seeking relevance through the name of Ogboru, except on issue based campaign as requested by the campaign council.
He said the campaign council will not be against Chief Oddiri canvassing support for his principal, Ovie Omo-Agege, but what the council will not condone is dragging the name of Chief Great Ogboru into unnecessary controversies for the fear of his high profile and his tremendous impact in the lives of Deltans through the name.
Okotie-Eboh said, “If Oddiri’s fear is Ogboru splitting the votes of Delta Central with a sitting senator, not just senator but the Deputy President of the Senate, Omo-Agege, meaning Oddiri has accepted Ogboru as a big threat to his principal, why then Oddiri’s bragging and claim that Omo-Agege has full control of the three senatorial districts, yet, he is still scared.
“Oddiri’s attack on Ogboru’s campaign assuring electorates that with the BVAS their votes are protected is not true, it is baseless, if not, why the unnecessary defense of agents of political parties compromising the process, it goes a long way to show that Chief Moses Oddiri has not got the slightest idea of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System, (BVAS).
“I know Oddiri is fully aware that a lot of persons whom are today in their various elective positions, rose through the name of Chief Great Ogboru, including the present Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, your principal, and which l suppose Oddiri should be aware, hence he should be mindful of his choice of words.
“The Campaign Council is not unaware that with the publication Oddiri had made, Deltans will now know those in politics to feather their nests and those to uplift the lives of the people, and it is obvious that the people are now well informed and can no longer be fooled any longer.”
