PDP Leads Apc In FCT Council Elections Held On Saturday Across The FCT

The Peoples Democratic Party has Defeated the All Progressives Congress in the Saturday, February, 2022 FCT Local Council Election held across the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

The FCT has Six Area Councils, namely, Abaji, Gwagwalada, Abuja Municipa Area Coouncil (AMAC), Bwari, Kuje, Kwali.

In Kwali Area Counci the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,  (PDP), Mr. Suleman Sabo (PDP) the winner of the Kuje Area Council chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory.

Mr Sabo is the council’s incumbent chairman and will now serve his second term in office having defeated the other five candidates in each of the 10 wards in the area council.

The final result was, PDP 13,301 votes against that of Sarki Hamidu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 7,694 votes being the closest votes to the PDP among the other political parties who contested.
By this, the PDP candidate defeated the APC with a total margin of 5,607 votes.

Gwagwalada Area Council was won by the All Progressives Congress (APC). Jubrin Abubakar of the APC was declared by INEC as the Chairman-elect of Gwagwalada Area Council at the Saturday Council elections. Mr Abubakar, a former chairman of the council, defeated his opponent, Mohammed Kassim of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr. Abubakar scored 11,125 votes as against Mr. Kassim of the PDP who had 9,597 votes.

Bwari Area Council was won by the PDP.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Mr. John Gabaya, as the Chairman-elect of Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mr. Gabaya was re-elected for a second two-year term and he defeated his closest rival, Mr. Audi Shekwolo of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr. Gabaya polled 13,045 votes for the PDP as against Mr Shekwolo (APC) who scored 7,697 votes, according to the INEC Returning Officer, Amochi Madu, who made the announced on Sunday morning in Abuja.

In the Abuja Municipal Area Council, the PDP won the  APC to win AMAC chairmanship election.
The PDP was declared the winner of the just concluded chairmanship election for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) by INEC.
Christopher Zakka (Maikalangu) of the PDP defeated his closest rival, Murtala Karshi (Yamarayi) of the All Progressive Congress (APC), and 10 others, to win the election.

Mr. Zakka polled 19,302 votes while Mr. Karshi got 13,249 votes.

AMAC is unarguably the most cosmopolitan of the six area councils in Abuja and it has 12 wards and includes the city centre of the Nigerian capital.’
The PDP won in 10 wards while the APC won in only two.

The results for AMAC were officially declared by the INEC Returning Officer, Sani Saka.

By securing AMAC, the PDP has now won in three of the four area councils whose final results had been declared as of 11:55 a.m. on Sunday. The others won by the PDP are Kuje and Bwari. The APC has so far won in Gwagwalada Area Council.
