The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly posed as the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Adeyemi was apprehended on Tuesday at his hideout in Osun State by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) from the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in Osun State, DSP Biodun Ojelabi, said the state command was aware of the operation but was not directly involved in the arrest.

According to him, the suspect was picked up in the early hours of Tuesday by the Abuja-based intelligence team.

“We are aware that the individual parading himself as the Director-General of the controversial PFIPC, Adeyemi, was picked up today in the state. The team that carried out the arrest came from the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

“He was arrested in the early hours by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT),” Ojelabi stated.

The arrest came after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court, Abuja, issued a warrant directing law enforcement agencies to apprehend Adeyemi for failing to appear in court to answer charges of alleged conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.

Police authorities, however, did not reveal how the suspect was tracked to his hideout or provide further details about the operation.
