Valentine Ozigbo, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the 2021 Anambra governorship election, has hailed Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for the exemplary leadership he has displayed in his administration of the southwestern state.
Mr Ozigbo made the commendation on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, while speaking to journalists at a dinner event held in Ibadan in honour of the newly-elected PDP National Working Committee (NWC) members.
Ozigbo, a multiple award-winning global CEO, said Governor Makinde has demonstrated exceptional leadership that has inspired the rapid development of Oyo State.
“Governor Makinde is an example of a new generation leader who has raised the bar in terms of people-oriented policies and milestone infrastructural projects,” Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, remarked.
“I’m also here to celebrate the newly-inaugurated NWC of our great party, the PDP, and I pray that their tenure is remembered for deepening our democratic process and returning the PDP to its rightful place.”
The dinner was attended by members of the new PDP NWC led by the PDP Deputy National Chairman (South West), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, the National Vice Chairman(South), Dr Soji Adagunodo; Hon Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary; and Hon Arch Setonji Koseodo, the Deputy National Secretary.
In his remarks at the event, Amb Arapaja thanked Gov Makinde for the significant role he played in ensuring the party stayed united as he supported his bid for the PDP national office.
“Your Excellency, our amiable governor, our sincere and profound gratitude goes to you. Your singular role in making today a reality cannot be overemphasised. You worked round the clock, using everything at your disposal to ensure that things fell into their proper dimension,” Amb Arapaja said.
Several top PDP leaders attended the event, including former Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State; former Governor Segun Oni of Ekiti State; Erelu Olusola Obada, a former Minister of Defence; Senator Abiodun Olujimi, and many others.
In the run-up to the November 6 Anambra governorship election, Governor Makinde was one of the visible PDP governors who supported Mr Ozigbo gubernatorial campaign, visiting the southeastern state on several occasions during the campaigns.
